Rattlesnake Key was sold in a private transaction in October 2025. The Tampa Bay Real Estate Investment Company, LLC is pleased note that their ongoing goal of preservation for Rattlesnake Key is part of the new owner’s plans.

The new owner, SSA Marine, has said their intent is to remove any possibility of private commercialization and ensure Rattlesnake Key’s preservation. They look forward to working with local officials, residents, and environmental leaders to discuss how best to preserve the natural character of this special property.

The Tampa Bay Real Estate Investment Company, LLC owns Slip Knott, LLC, a holding company for the Knott Cowen tract and other small islands in Tampa Bay. SSA Marine is pursuing plans to build a modern cruise port alongside the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge on the Knott Cowen property. Slip Knott is assisting with land use designation; SSA will share more information as their plans develop.
